Social Responsibility is more than giving a bag of money to your favorite charity in return for some nice pictures. At Phirozsil Ventures we walk-the-walk and give back in a multitude of ways. Our favorite giving back conduits are – Rotary International and hands-on economic empowerment.
Day one of the Subnational Immunization Days in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, a weeklong campaign to vaccinate children against polio. Rotarians, Rotaractors, health workers, and other volunteers set up and operate more than 1,500 immunization booths in the area. 23 June 2019.

Hands-On Empowerment
Economic and Every Which Way
Everyone can use a helping hand. Ever felt knocked down? Felt that regardless of multiple tries getting back on your feet appears impossible? Felt the world is caving in and unfair? If you have not had these feelings, you’ve been lucky and graced…so far. Regrettably, for a certain demographic this is everyday life. The feeling of sinking, the feeling of never being able to catch up, the feeling of constantly being at a disadvantage no matter how much hard work or effort is put in, the feeling of hopelessness, the homelessness that is typically associated – such situations fuel desperation and create environments for individuals to commit the offenses.
People react differently. Some stay bystanders, some judge, some are sympathetic, some help, some are hope givers, some are opportunity providers. At Phirozsil Ventures, our associates and our teams are very mindful that we are the lucky ones. We were and are graced with good social environments and opportunities. So, we give back – both, in-kind and hands-on. In the illustrative sense – yes, we give out fishes and assist if that is the need of the hour and the immediate correct thing to do. Our preference is, we teach how to fish and stay around until the recipient regains the confidence to get into the practice of fishing, so to speak.
We are well aware that economic dependencies in the form of hand-outs have the potential of creating toxic charitable relationships. So, we choose to get in deeper. When we see potential recipients, who could use help in breaking free from their downward economic spiral, we stand by them and help. It takes time. But our experience shows that staying by the recipient’s side, engaging and working with them, over extended periods, helps the recipient build confidence, appreciate the assistance, get back in and stay in the game.
We use our contacts and available resources to assist, hands-on. We’ve taken recipients to job fairs, provided references, and stay alongside them to get them into an income stream. Furthermore, we continue and stay engaged over an extended period (typically 2 years) until we sense that we can let them fend on their own. We are the training wheels on a bicycle, the bumper rails, we guide on how to balance expenses, how to save, how to file taxes, build confidence, and ultimately how to get back on their feet.
It takes time. It takes energy. More importantly, it takes patience. This is where The Phirozsil Venture Capital & Operating Enterprise, differs. We operate with heart and know what we do matters. We See; We Assist. Why…because, we are all in this together. Getting people back on their feet is the best accomplishment ever. It benefits everyone, the giver and the recipient. It makes good individuals, who in turn make good communities… where we all desire to live, work, and grow our families in.
